I’m working on my 4th career. I’ve been in the service during wartime; I was a Systems Engineer then Engineering Manager, then Engineering Director for Lockheed Martin- Space Systems Division; i started, incorporated, and managed a nonprofit; and currently I am a consulting engineerforan Industrial Minerals company. I am overeducated with 3 degrees and love learning. I married my college sweetheart and we had a wonderful life raising 3 great children until I lost my darling girl to disease over a year ago. I’ve found that traveling, dining, and experiencing life alone is rather like one hand clapping. I mean to remedy this. Which brings me to this site. It is my hope that this site can help me find a lady friend perhaps growing to a companion or even something deeper. I am an easy going, friendly sort of guy who doesn’t take himself too seriously. I am generally quiet but if you tell me a good joke while I’m drinking a beer I’ve been known to roar in laughter while spitting beer all over myself. I love to laugh and want to find someone to laugh with. I have a great relationship with my 2 girls and daughter-in-law although as I get older they want to mother me a bit too much. When I travel they worry. I have to remind them that I’ve traveled all over this country and abroad during my careers without a single fatal event. So I think I’ll be ok. I’m planning a short trip to Puerto Rico and a long trip back to Europe this Fall and they are beginning to circle the wagons. Hahaha. Can’t wait for the lecture as I’m headed to the airport. My oldest daughter married a New Zealander land developer. My middle daughter married a Fijian software engineer, and youngest son married a Japanese girl. My 7 grandchildren are steeped in the culture and language of their Pacific county heritage. Family events can be riotous with several languages and colors and traditions which make my 7 grandchildren so dear to my heart. There are some principles that center my very being. These are duty, honor, country, family and God. Anyway, to summarize, I have a gentle soul, a strong commitment to purpose, a good sense of humor, and a desire to always move the ball forward (sorry, football metaphor.) Hopefully there are some lovely intelligent young women with similar interests.
